"STUFFED CAMEL"
No. You did not read wrong: Camel!
It turns out that Arab sheikhs, especially in the regions of Iran and Saudi Arabia, prepare a stuffed camel for their weddings, or the weddings of their closest relatives, mainly.
The official name of this traditional Bedouin dish is not known, but many people refer to it as the Tarducken camel.
The recipe for a stuffed camel seems like a bad joke, but the Guinness Book of Records defines it as the recipe for the largest dish in the world.
It is a traditional Bedouin dish, where a camel is stuffed with a lamb, the lamb stuffed with chickens, and the chickens stuffed with eggs and rice.
All of this is grilled until cooked and then on the table.
In the preparation:
Inside it, a sheep or lamb is placed, whose organs have previously been removed, to be filled with 20 chickens also without organs.
Chickens are stuffed with eggs with rice.
In some places the chickens are stuffed with fish and these suggest that the fish can be stuffed with eggs.
Once all this is done, the set is placed on a giant barbecue.
It should stay there until the meat is crisp and brown.
This last part of the process takes about 24 hours.
The camel is served cut into slices on a silver tray. And it feeds about 80 or 90 people, depending on the size of the animal.
It is usually accompanied by rice and nuts.
There should always be
accompaniment, in case someone doesn't fill up. :)
